Lawang Sewu

Lawang Sewu is a Dutch heritage old buildings which was built in 1904. At first, the building was used for corporate headquarters rail (tram) Dutch colonizers or Nederlandsch Indishe Spoorweg Naatschappij (NIS). This three-storey building with art deco style is designed by Popular Dutch Architect  Prof Jacob F Klinkhamer and BJ Queendag. Lawang Sewu is located on the east side Tugu Muda Semarang, or on the corner of Pandanaran Street and Pemuda Street. Called Lawang Sewu (Thousand Doors), because the building has so many doors. In fact, the doors in this building no more than a thousand. The building has many windows are tall and wide so that people often regard it as a door.
The main building of Lawang Sewu consists of a three storey building with two wings extending to the right and left sections. If the visitors entering the main building, they’ll found a big stair towards to second floor.
